[Los Angeles = Tomoaki Obitsu] The Dodgers’ victory parade, which won the U.S. Major League World Series for the first time in four years, was held in the center of Los Angeles on the 1st (2nd Japan time). The last victory in 2020 was not held due to the Corona disaster, so it was the first parade in 36 years since 1988. The players, including Shohei Otani and Yushin Yamamoto, who both won their first championship in their first year of transfer, took a two-story open bus for about 45 minutes and shared their joy with the fans who filled the road.
Shohei Otani and Hideki Kuriyama, who participated in WS in subluxation, said, “I think that’s how it went in ordinary games.”

Otani got on the bus with his wife, Mamiko, and his dog, “Dekopin.” Even though it was a weekday morning, many fans gathered and the Dodgers’ team-colored blue flags were waved here and there. There was a conflagration of confetti, and the cheers continued. Otani was surprised, saying, “It’s spectacular and I’m overwhelmed because I didn’t think there would be so many people,” and “I’m really grateful that they supported me and accepted me from my first year. It’s been a great year as a team to get the best results,” he said.

After the parade, the players moved to Dodger Stadium to attend a celebration event with fans who filled the stands. Major players such as Roberts, who went up to the special stage in the center of the ground, and Freeman, who won the MVP of the World Series, greeted the fans. The Dodgers’ 17-year-old left-handed Kershaw cried tearfully, saying, “I’ve been looking forward to this day for a long time,” and T. Hernandez, who joined this season and played the central role, cried, “Thank you for making me the best in the world.”

Otani also grabbed the microphone and said in English, “It’s a special moment and I’m honored to be here,” and concluded, “Congratulations, Los Angeles,” drawing loud cheers. Yamamoto also shouted, “Thank you, Dodger fan.”
