Dodgers’ Shohei Otani (30) appeared in a game against the Diamondbacks in enemy territory with “No.1 DH” and hit his 44th home run in two consecutive games in his first at-bat in the first inning. It was his 10th consecutive game of the season and tied last year’s 44 home runs.
Otani, the sole leader of the home run championship league, is now on the verge of running alone by widening the gap with his second-place rival M. Ozuna (33, Braves). In addition, his RBIs increased from 96 to 97 and his best 46 home runs and 100 RBIs (both in 2021) were within range.
