The dolphin is about 1.5 meters long and small, and features a distinct body pattern with a white-black border. It is also called a panda dolphin because it looks like a giant panda.
Its habitat is off the southern coast of South America (the waters around Fuego and Falkland Islands) and off the southern Indian Ocean (the waters around the Kergeren Islands). The movement is active, and it is often observed to swim and jump quickly on the surface of the sea.
According to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) red list, it is said that it is a “Last Concern” and is unlikely to become extinct in the near future, but in Japan, only two aquariums are kept, so it is difficult to meet them.
