When you arrive at the gorilla’s location, you go to see the gorilla with only the camera and minimal valuables. And finally, I’m facing a group of mountain gorillas. An hour’s observation is allowed when you reach a group of gorillas. The rules don’t allow you to get within 7 meters of each other: a playful child gorilla, a baby gorilla, a slightly larger blackback and a group boss, Silverback, and the gorilla usually act together as a family. During the observation, gorillas sometimes perform chest-punching behaviors called drumming. Drumming is said to be an action to intimidate the other person, but to avoid futile fighting. The gorillas are mild-mannered, and everyone must be greatly impressed by their slow observation from a distance of only seven or eight meters. It is said that gorillas branched between humans and evolution about eight million years ago. It is one of the closest primates to mankind and is said to share about 97 percent of its DNA with humans. Basically, it is a herbivore, and it eats the fruits, leaves, stems, and roots of plants, and when it becomes an adult male, it eats as much as 34 kilograms of food a day. Usually, they live in a family-based group, ranging from 8 to 30 heads. Young male gorillas are called blackbacks because their hair is all black, and when they grow up, their hair on their backs turns white and they are called silverbacks. The herd composition is usually made up of one adult male and several females, their children. The leader of the herd is a silverback. Mountain gorillas live in the Vilunga Volcanic Group, which spans three countries: Uganda, Rwanda and Congo. Mountain gorillas live on high mountains of about 2,000 to 4,000 meters above sea level, preferring forests with high humidity and low temperatures. Mountain gorillas do not have a specific place to live and travel every day looking for food. Most of the day is spent searching for food and eating, and in the evening, find a suitable place to sleep. Once you go to bed, you won’t move until morning.
