マウスとは片手の手のひらで包みこむ小さいサイズのパソコンの周辺機器だ
モニターの画面の上に映るカーソルををスイスイ縦横無尽に動かす為に使う
小学生の頃は家電量販店に行って動かし遊んでいた
すごく不思議だった覚えがある
最近はワイヤレス・マウスが主流で、電池の買い替えが面倒だけど有線マウスのケーブルの煩わしさがなく、とても重宝する
この間、あるサイトを見ていてマウスって英語でなんて言うの?という質問があった
パソコンのマウスなんだけど
英語を使うアメリカではPCマウスの事を
そのままマウスと呼ぶ
他にはcomputer mouseと呼ぶ場合もある
mouseとはネズミの意味でもあるしパソコンのマウスの意味でもある
同じワードで混乱しないかというと
混乱することはない
会話でも文章でも前後の文脈でネズミではないことはわかる
なのでcomputer は省略するのが普通だ
