The snake found on the JR Yamanote Line was caught on the 12th and reported to the police station as lost property, but no inquiries have been made at this time. According to JR’s rules, snakes are prohibited from being brought into railway cars, and owners may be asked to compensate for damages if a pet snake escapes and delays the railway or injures passengers. However, snakes have been found in the car in the past, but most of them are handled without the owner’s name. Snakes sometimes dive into folded umbrellas or move along electric wires, so it is highly likely that they naturally entered the car.
According to the rules of JR East and other JR companies, the animals allowed to be brought into the train are “small dogs, cats, pigeons, or similar small animals,” but the warning says, “Except for fierce animals and snakes.” If a snake is brought into the train without permission, it will violate JR’s business rules. If it is judged that dangerous goods prohibited from being brought in are brought in, they can be punished as obstruction of work by force, and if the animal that brought in bites and injures passengers, they can be punished as gross negligence.
