サーフボードの上に立ってパドルで漕ぐ
ハワイで生まれた遊びで慣れちゃえば子供だってできる気軽なスポーツだ
SUPとはStand Up Paddleboardの略

One of the reasons why the number of SUP lovers is increasing now is that it is a “beginner-friendly” activity that can be done without confidence in muscle strength or motor nerves. The dedicated board is bigger, more buoyant and more stable than the surfboard. That’s why even beginners often stand on the board for a short period of practice.
Surfing can also be done without big waves, but SUP uses paddles, so cruising can be done in lakes and rivers. Even if you don’t stand on the board, just sitting on the board like a canoe and rowing on a paddle makes you feel refreshed! It is also good to ride tandem (two people) with your child or dog. The outdoor leisure with a wide entrance that anyone can easily enjoy is SUP. The origin of SUP (sap) – standing on a board and paddling – was introduced from Tahiti more than 2,000 years ago and spread around the world by Hawaiians. Hawaii’s Beach Boys in the 1960s created a style that led to the current SUP. It is said that it started when he stood on a board to take pictures of tourists surfing with a camera. After that, he did not become a major player behind the popularity of surfing, but since around 2000, he has regained popularity in Hawaii, and the attention of global surfers such as Rayard Hamilton, who have pioneered the next generation of surf styles, has brought more waves in recent years. Competitions such as SUP surfing and racing have also become popular, and large-scale competitions are being held around the world.
